notebook buying guide how to buy the right laptop

As a computer services company in Hull, we are often asked how you can go about buying the right laptop or notebook computer. This is a particularly tough question to answer. So read our notebook buying guide how to buy the right laptopThis is in part down to the fact that absolutely everybody has their own individual requirements for a laptop computer. On this page I want to briefly run you through a few of the things that you may wish to think about.

If you are purchasing your computer for basic work use only e.g. for accessing the internet, for checking emails, working with spread sheets, word documents, or something similar then you do not need anything too extravagant when it comes to a laptop. A basic laptop will be ideal for your needs here. You will of course want it to have a bit of speed to it (we will discuss this soon), but you do not need to blow your budget.

If your work entails the use of high-level programs however (e.g. working with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, or something similar to that) then you may want to look into a variety of higher-powered options on the market. One suggestion here is to take a little look at the system requirements for the software that you use the most.

You should be able to find this online quite easily. You will then want to search for a laptop that meets these specifications. Generally speaking; the more RAM and processing speed the computer has, the more powerful it is going to be for you.

If you are going to be working with high-level programs a lot then I suggest you purchase the most powerful laptop that you can afford here. It will serve you well. One point to note; if you are working with graphics or videos then you may want to pay attention to the size of the hard drive on the computer. The more space on the hard drive; the better for you.

Now; I do not normally recommend a laptop for gaming, particularly intense gaming as they are prone to overheating. However if you must have a gaming laptop then there are a couple of things to think about. Firstly; you want to ensure that the computer has a fairly decent graphics card. You do not want the graphics card to be integrated into the motherboard. You want a dedicated graphics card. You will also want to ensure that you get a computer with a ton of RAM and a decent processor.

This is the only way in which you can be sure that your laptop will run most games perfectly.
Remember; when you are searching for a computer you do want to make sure that you purchase from a reputable manufacturer. This way in the rare event that any computer repairs need to be carried out, it should be fairly easy to find somebody that can help.
